COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – Two Columbia County men were arrested Monday on burglary and theft charges.

Deputies said they were able to quickly identify 37-year-old Brandon Smith as a suspect.

When deputies tried to make contact with Smith at a home he was staying off Lake Jeffery Road, Smith tried to flee out a back window, deputies said. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

Deputies said Smith had sold one of the stolen TVs to an acquaintance a few days after the burglary.

Deputies said Smith and his landlord, 56-year-old Jimmy Kicklighter, had sold some of the stolen property at a local pawn shop. Kicklighter was also present when the burglary occurred, deputies said.

Detectives said they're working to recover the remaining stolen property. Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility.
