Man shot in face, arm in NW Jax

No suspect information at this time, per JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is recovering after being shot twice in Northwest Jacksonville early Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Just before 1 a.m. police were notified that someone had been shot in the Panama Park area.

JSO responded to 250 E. 48th Street to find a man, on the porch, with gunshot wounds to his right forearm and right cheek.

The victim told police he was walking across the train tracks toward East 44th Street when he heard two gunshots, and realized he had been shot, according to JSO.

Police said the man was treated at the scene by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and then transported to UF Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

JSO's Violent Crimes and Crime Scene detectives are investigating the shooting.

Police said they have no suspect information at this time. The victim's identity has not been released.
