Man sought in July rape of woman in Northwest Jacksonville

Police: Rapist has tattoo of joker on right hand

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police in Jacksonville are asking for the public's help in finding a man they said raped a woman more than five months ago.

Investigators said the woman was walking down the 5300 block of Vernon Road in Northwest Jacksonville about 9:30 p.m. July 23 when a man she didn't know pulled up next to her in a four-door vehicle and asked her if she needed a ride.

The woman declined and continued walking. A short time later while she was walking across Scott Park, the man sneaked up behind her, grabbed her by the back of the head and forced her to the ground. The men then raped her.

The attacker is described as a black man with long dreadlocks, facial hair and had a tattoo of a joker on his right hand.

Detectives said they have exhausted all possible investigative leads in this case. The provided a composite sketch of the man and a drawing of his tattoo on his right hand.

Police do not believe this case is related to any other cases they are currently investigating.
