Man who killed Jacksonville hotel employee sentenced to 2 life terms

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man found guilty of robbing and murdering a Jacksonville Quality Inn employee has been sentenced to two life terms in prison.

Douglas Haynes was convicted in July on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery.

Haynes killed Vasudevbhal Barot at the Quality Inn off Dix Ellis Trail in April 2011. The victim lived and worked at the hotel.

Haynes and his co-defendant Craig Roback went to Barot's hotel room, tied him up, and then beat him. The murder was the result of a plan to rob Barot's of his money.

Haynes is one of five people arrested in the case. Roback was convicted on the same charges in May. Three other co-defendants –- Mindy Lethco, Beau Graham and Jennifer Henn -- pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder and armed robbery.
