Police said a man called 911 and told dispatchers he was shot while walking along Bert Road.

When police arrived to the Sunrise Apartment complex, they noticed one of the apartments had a broken window, possibly from gunshots. The man who was shot was taken to UF Health Jacksonville for treatment.

Early on in the investigation, police found out that a woman had taken herself to Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police believe there may be a connection between the man and woman, but have not been able to speak with her yet.

Both victims are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police could not confirm how many shots were fired or if there are any suspects early Wednesday morning, but neighbors told Channel 4 that they heard as many as five gun shots.
