Man, woman shot near Brentwood apartments

Police: 2nd woman may have been hit by stray bullet from 1st incident

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man and a woman were shot within 15 minutes Thursday night near the same Brentwood apartment complex, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

According to a police report, 47-year-old Joseph Chaco was shot twice at 11:18 p.m. on West 42nd Street, behind the Capri Apartments at 2832 North Main. He was rushed to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition.

At 11:32 p.m., a 31-year-old woman was walking on 42nd Street behind the same apartment complex when she heard gunfire and felt a pain in her left foot and realized she was shot. She was also taken to Shands, but her injury was considered non-life-threatening.

According to the report, the bullet that hit the woman may have been a stray shot from the first shooting.
