Monday deadline to register to vote in primary

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Anyone wanting to register to vote in the Florida primary or change their address or party affiliation must do so by 5 p.m. Monday.

The primary is held on August 26, with early voting beginning on August 16.  Races on the ballot will range from county commission and school board seats to state lawmakers, Florida governor and cabinet offices and members of Congress.

Voters must be at least 18 years old by primary day and a U.S. citizen. Someone who turns 18 by Aug. 26 can register now and vote and anyone who's 18 by Nov. 4 can register now for the general election.

Felons who haven't had their voting rights restored and people judged mentally incapacitated aren't eligible.

You can fill out a registration form and getting it back to the Supervisor of Elections Office in your county by the end of the business day or make sure it's postmarked by the July 28 deadline.
