Nelson files bill aimed at saving control towers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sen. Bill Nelson has filed a bill aimed at keeping 149 air traffic control towers at small airports around the country open as the Federal Aviation Administration tries to close them because of the forced budget cuts.

There are 14 airports on the closing list in Florida, including Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine.
