JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Dr. Nikolai Vitti has agreed to a contract that would pay him $275,000 to be Duval County's next school superintendent.
The Duval County School Board -- that voted 5-2 earlier last month to hired the Vittii -- has called a special meeting for Monday morning to approve the contract with the same base pay and benefits as outgoing Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals.

Vitti, 35, will leave his job as chief academic officer of Miami-Dade County schools to take the helm of Duval County's school district on Nov. 12. His contract runs through June 2016.
During the interview process, Vitti emphasized that he's worked in various positions with the school system, including as a teacher, administrator and principal, and saying that he understands all aspects it takes to be successful.
"I have done it. I have been a teacher. I have been a principal. In the era of accountability, where my job was on the line, if I didn't produce, that was significant and meaningful," Vitti said.
