New water taxi arrives in Jacksonville

First of 2 purchased by mayor's office delievered to city

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The first of two water taxis purchased by the mayor's office have been delivered to Jacksonville.

The pontoon boat named Sea Charm 1 docked at Saddler Point Marina in Lake Shore late Thursday afternoon.

However, the boat won't be taking passengers across the St. Johns River until it passes a Coast Guard inspection, which Channel 4 was told originally would be done by Friday.

There is no word on when the new taxi will be put into service.

Earlier this week the Jacksonville City Council did not approve the purchase of two boats in an emergency move by the city. The council is expected to take up the water taxi issue again on June 24.
