Orange Park Mall reopened after bomb threat

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Parts of the Orange Park Mall were evacuated Thursday afternoon because of a bomb threat called in to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said after checking the mall, nothing related to the threat was found and the businesses returned to normal operations.

Deputies said they worked with mall security to ensure everyone was safe. They said there were no indications of any device, only the called-in bomb threat about 3:45 p.m.

Mall management had the authority to evacuate or lockdown any area of the mall if necessary, which happened in part as areas and stores were checked.

Deputies said the investigation into who placed the call is ongoing.
