Derrick Lattimore arrested on aggravated assault charges

ORLANDO, Fla. – Early Monday morning, Orlando police officers opened fire on a man wanted in an aggravated assault who, according to officials, tried to run them over in a parking garage.

Derrick Lattimore, 27, was arrested in the incident, which occurred around 1:20 a.m. at the City View apartments at 595 W. Church Street.  No one was injured.

According to Orlando police,  officers were in the area of Church Street and Terry trying to locate a man in connection with a domestic violence aggravated assault with a firearm, which occurred  at another location in the city.

The man, later identified as Lattimore, fled the initial scene in a vehicle, and officers were advised that he could possibly be headed to the City View apartments.

Officers located Lattimore in his vehicle in the parking garage of the apartments, according to police, who said Lattimore tried to run them over.

Three officers fired shots, but Lattimore was not struck, police said.

The officers took Lattimore into custody on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm. Additional charges are pending.

No other details have been released.
