88-year-old woman airlifted after being struck

ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. – An 88-year-old woman was airlifted after being struck by a car Saturday morning, authorities said.

It happened at 8:20 a.m. Saturday morning at the intersection of A1A Beach Boulevard and Whispering Oaks Circle.

Police said Sean Surguine, 28, was driving a 2004 Mazada northbound when he hit 88-year-old Ida Buckler.

Buckler was in the crosswalk of Whispering Oaks Circle at the time of the accident.

Buckler was airlifted to UF Health in Jacksonville with possible life-threatening injuries, but she was reported in stable condition.

Crews from St. Johns County Fire Rescue's Station 7, along with Battalion 2, helped treat Buckler.

Charges are pending against Surguine.
