JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Police are searching for three suspects who robbed two people at gunpoint early Friday morning.
Richard Boston said that his fiancé was terrified, when she pulled up to her Westside apartment building Friday and was robbed at gunpoint.
"They fought over the purse and they fought and fought, and she was kicking and hitting him and finally, he got purse away from her and he took off," said Boston. "She took off after him and screaming bloody murder, and as she was chasing him, he turned around and fired a shot at her."
Boston's fiancé was not hit by the bullet and she wasn't the only victim of the robbers.
According to the police report, the male victim saw Boston's fiancé struggling with one of the suspects. He told police that he walked to the sidewalk to get a better view before he was approached by the second suspect, who was pointing a pistol at him.
The male victim told police while being held at gunpoint, he was able to see a third man holding a rifle.
"Absolutely horrible that they would rob a senseless girl who was working hard for her money. Over $180 was taken from her last night," said Boston.
The news of the robberies and that the three men responsible haven't been found makes residents in the complex, like Christine Sanchez, nervous.
"I heard someone yell something like, 'Do I need to call 911,' but that's all I know," said Sanchez. "I'll be a lot more sensitive now. I thought this complex was a little safer than others, but the gate out front hasn't worked in months."
Channel 4 Crime Analyst Ken Jefferson said people can never be too cautious when pulling into a dark parking lot, along, late at night.
"Try to scan the area before you park the car," said Jefferson. "If you see any kind of suspicious activity, anything that looks out of place to you, like people hanging out, sitting in cars. If you see that, you might not want to park."
Police are still looking for three men believed to be involved with the robberies. The three suspects are believed to be in their 20s and are described as follows:
- 5'4" tall, 130 to 140 pounds, dreadlocks, wearing a red t-shirt with a large logo on the front and dark colored pants.
- 5'1" tall, 150 to 160 pounds, black t-shirt with a large white logo on front and camo shorts.
- 6' tall, 165 to 170 pounds, black t-shirt, dark colored jeans.
Anyone with information about these suspects should contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-845-TIPS
