Police investigating possible abduction

Woman heard arguing, believes man was trying to get woman in car

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was investigating a possible abduction on the Northside early Tuesday morning.

A woman who lives off Washington Avenue and Prospect Street woke up to a man and woman arguing on the street around 2 a.m.

"She heard arguing, woke up, looked out her window, told (them) she was going to call the police, JSO spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda said. "At that time, the vehicle started stopping and going, stopping and going, stopping and going. At this time, we don't know what occurred, we don't have a tag number, we don't know who those individuals are."

The woman called police anyway because she was afraid the man was trying to get the woman in a car to leave.

"Homicide detectives are on scene talking to her," Bujeda said. "She didn't specifically say she saw (an abduction), she couldn't even tell the description of them because the car was facing her house, so she was seeing silhouettes."

Police said the woman was about 100 yards away from the people she heard arguing.

The woman told police the car was a white sedan, but didn't have any other details.
