LAKE CITY, Fla. – A 22-year-old Lake City man was arrested Thursday after police said he was "sexting" an 11-year-old.

Lake City police said they worked with the Peel Regional Police Service in Ontario, Canada, in arresting Aaron Bader in Lake City.

Bader is charged with transmission of harmful material to minors.

On Feb. 27, the child's mother contacted Peel police and said her child was receiving sexually explicit text messages from a man who claimed to be named Aaron.

Police said Bader and the child met through an online video game, started talking, exchanged phone numbers and began texting one another. From Feb. 3 to Feb. 11, the two exchanged more than 2,000 text messages, police said.

The majority of the messages exchanged through the course of that time were sexually descriptive in nature with photos, police said.

They said one of the conversations taking place on Feb. 4 specifically centered on the age difference of the two, how it seemed "weird." However, the sexting continued after Bader learned of the child being 11 years old, police said.

Bader was located in Lake City and arrested at his workplace Thursday. Police said he confessed to sending obscene and sexual material to a minor while being aware of the age of the juvenile.

Bader was booked into the Columbia County Detention Center without bail.
