Man in life-threatening condition after shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in a home in Northwest Jacksonville.

Police were called to 2100 West 41st Street just after 9 p.m. Friday for reports of a man who was shot in the chest. Officers arrived at the scene and found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The man was transported to UF Health Friday night with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are still trying to determine how the man was shot, whether an assailant entered the victim's home or the assailant was in a vehicle during the shooting.

Police are still investigating and said they do not know if the victim was in an argument with someone that lead to the shooting, or if the victim knew the person or people who were involved in the shooting.

Police said the man was inside the home alone at the time of the shooting. No other vehicles or homes were struck by gunfire.
