Police: Palatka woman killed by estranged husband in Colorado

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A 25-year-old Palatka native was killed by her estranged husband in Colorado Springs on Wednesday, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police responded to a call of a suicide in the Fillmore Ridge Apartments in the 3200 block of North Chestnut Street on Wednesday. Officers said they found 25-year-old Karen Mamo dead of a gunshot wound.

Detectives said they were able to establish probable cause for the arrest of 26-year-old Louis Mamo on a charge of second-degree murder in his wife's death.

The killing marked the city's 20th homicide of 2012, according to the Police Department.
