Police: Teen critical after accidental shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 19-year-old man was shot in the head in an accidental shooting late Tuesday morning in Northwest Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said three young men were in a house in the 11100 block of Key Haven Boulevard about 11 a.m., and Kenneth Smith was handling a gun when it discharged, hitting him in the head.

He was rushed to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center in critical condition.

Darryl Austin (pictured, right), 20, was arrested in relation to the case for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence for removing the firearm from the scene.

The other man was also questioned but was not arrested.

It's uncertain who owns the gun.
