Police: Teen molested at East Arlington Walmart

Jacksonville police release surveillance photo of child molester

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are looking for a man who molested a 13-year-old girl Tuesday night while she was shopping with her mother at a Walmart in East Arlington.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the girl stayed behind in a section of the store in the 11900 block of Atlantic Boulevard about 8:40 p.m. while her mother was shopping in another part of the store. Police said a man followed the girl for a while before walking up to her and committing a lewd act.

The man -- white and in his mid-30s with short, dark hair -- then fled the area on foot. Police released surveillance photos of the man in the store.

"We're concerned that this could have happened at one of our stores," Walmart spokeswoman Kayla Whaling said in a statement. "We've provided surveillance video to the Jacksonville Sherriff's Office to hopefully identify who may have done this. We appreciate local law enforcement's efforts on this case and will continue to work with them as needed."
