FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – A Yulee woman arrested earlier this year in a theft from the Florida Department of Health in Nassau County is now accused of embezzling about $60,000 from the Amelia Island Youth Soccer League.

After Ronee Malama's arrest, investigators said they found out that she had been given a position of authority within the soccer league.

In checking with the president of the league, Fernandina Beach police determined that there had been a series of irregularities relating to the league's finances.

Once this was determined, detectives said they reviewed well over 1,000 pages of bank records and business records. They said after several weeks of assembling evidence, detectives were able to determine that Malama had embezzled funds over a two-year period of about $60,000.

Malama arrested Friday in that case and was being held in the Nassau County jail with bail set at $75,002.
