INTERLACHEN, Fla. – Investigators in Putnam County are still looking for a burglar after leading a chase by deputies, one of whom fired at the man's vehicle.

They said the burglar was driving away from the home and heading toward State Road 20.

Investigators said Deputy Brandon Culbreth saw a blue Dodge truck leaving the area and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the truck tried to flee the area, losing control, striking a field fence, and ultimately directing the vehicle back toward Culbreth.

Culbreth fired several rounds from his agency-issued handgun, disabling the vehicle, deputies said.

The driver of the vehicle fled on foot and has yet to be apprehended or identified, deputies said.

Detectives with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office are continuing the criminal investigation.

Culbreth has been placed on administrative leave pending an administrative review of the shooting.
