TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - State troopers are still negotiating their contract but say Thursday's offer from the Florida Highway Patrol is more reasonable than the previous offer.
The old offer had troopers making contact with motorists three or four times an hour, including traffic citations.
Matt Puckett, of the Florida Police Benevolent Association, said the new offer removes any mention of writing tickets.25219436

"There's no longer a requirement that they have a certain number of contacts per hour per patrol hour during the evaluation period," said Puckett. "Again, we thought that was really dangerously close to a quota for our officers."
The troopers are still negotiating whether the terms of their new contract, including whether they will get pay raises or bonuses.
The state said it does not comment on labor negotiations.
