Students who were already at the school were kept inside their classrooms, and arriving buses were not permitted to unload until about 8:45 a.m., when the lockdown was lifted and all school activities returned to normal.

Clay County schools spokeswoman Darlene Mahla said parents who dropped off children were escorted to their classrooms.

Deputies and K9 units continued to search the area. Anyone who has information regarding the gunmen is asked to call 904-264-6512.
