JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll is holding up just fine in the face of a couple of distractions, Gov. Rick Scott has assured.
He commented Wednesday for the first time on an allegation by a former staff member in Carroll's that she caught Carroll and another woman in what she called a "compromising position."
Carroll has denied it.
On Tuesday, Carroll's brother-in-law, a New Port Richey pharmacist, was indicted on federal drug charges of filling prescriptions for a pill pushing ring.
Carroll said she is "surprised and saddened" by the arrest.
Scott said Carroll is staying focused on her role in his administration.
"I think Jennifer's working hard," he said, "working hard to make sure my agenda is implemented. It's jobs, jobs, jobs. That's what she is doing every day."
Scott spoke briefly to reporters at an Orlando airport. He is in Orlando to address a health care conference.
