JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 48-year-old Jacksonville man was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison for a 2011 sexual attack on a 32-year-old woman.
Ernest Rankin was sentenced to 15 years on count one of sexual battery, 15 years on count two of sexual battery, five years for false imprisonment, five years for grand theft auto, one year in the county jail for misdemeanor battery, and one year in the county jail for assault. The sentences run concurrently.

Rankin was also designated a sex offender.
A jury convicted Rankin last month in the April 2011 attack. Rankin beat the victim and forced her to have sex with him.
Rankin then held the woman against her will for 24 hours. When Rankin stole the victim's car, the woman was able to call the police for help.
