Sexual predator wanted in Jax arrested in Virginia

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Andrew Bangerter was arrested Friday near Richmond, Va., by members of the United States Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. Bangerter was wanted by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for failure to register as a sexual predator. 

Authorities say Bangerter has a violent history of sexual crimes against children in both Florida and New York. Jacksonville police contacted the Fugitive Task Force when it was learned that Bangerter was missing.

Information was developed that indicated that Bangerter had fled Florida and was now hiding out near Richmond.  The Capital Region Fugitive Task Force found Bangerter sleeping on a bench near a truck stop. He was arrested without incident and transported to jail.
