He was the first member of the St. Augustine Beach Police Department to die in the line of duty.

His killer, Thomas DeSherlia, was already wanted for murder and robbery in other states when he killed Parker.

He's serving a life sentence, but will face another parole hearing in 2019.

A park in St. Augustine Beach is named in Parker's memory.

A ceremony is held there each year on the date of his killing.
