Deputies: Search of suspect's home reveals stolen property

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities have arrested a Live Oak man suspected of stealing copper wiring from at least three homes in the area.

Lawrence Stanford, 29, was arrested Monday, a day after the suspect fled deputies during a burglary at a home on Southwest Sunset Way, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for Stanford's home at 1700 S.E. McFarlane Ave. on Monday.

Deputies said a continuing search has recovered property known to have been stolen from residential burglaries in the county. Some of the property has also been identified by the Lake City Police Department as being stolen from residences within the city limits.

Due to the amount of property being discovered, it will take several days to process, catalog and determine what property has been reported stolen and from which jurisdiction, deputies said.

Stranford faces charges of burglary, criminal mischief, grand theft, resisting arrest without violence and violation of probation, authorities said.
