Suspicious package found in Dumpster deemed safe

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office bomb squad was called to an industrial area on the Westside on Monday morning after they said an education company found a suspicious package in its Dumpster.

After nearly two hours on scene, investigators determined someone placed non-hazardous trash in the bin, promoting the scare.

Police responded to Excelligence Learning Corporation at 6700 Stuart Ave. just before 11 a.m. The Jacksonville Fire-Rescue Hazmat team was also called to the area.

Police said the package had markings on the outside that led them to believe it may have been dangerous.

The business was evacuated, and Stuart Avenue was blocked off until just after 12:30 p.m.

The business does not involve children, and only makes products for schools.
