JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - An SUV plowed through a house in Northwest Jacksonville on Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened at the home in the 7400 block of Dostie Drive East about 2:30 p.m.
No one was injured.
Police said the driver fell asleep at the wheel before crashing into a street sign and into the home.
The driver, John Walker, said he suffers from diabetes and believes it was his medical condition that caused him to black out.
"That's when I lost control, then next thing I know, when I did look, I'm traveling all the way over here," Walker said. "I wasn't scared. I mean, I was shook up. You know, 'Oh my God, I was in control.'"
Police said Walker would be cited with reckless driving.
The homeowner said no one was home at the time. The family said they were picking up their grandson when they received a call about the crash.
"We are thanking God that no one was hurt and we are all safe," Celestine Miller said. "This is huge for us because this is the second time, so it's a shock."
Miller said the other crash into her home was in late 2012.
