JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Tim Tebow will be named a "Great Floridian" by Gov. Rick Scott on Friday afternoon.

The governor will present the award to Tebow at TPC Sawgrass.

The governor's office says the "Great Floridian" designation recognizes the outstanding achievements of men and women who have made significant contributions to the progress and welfare of Florida.

The Florida Secretary of State chooses the honorees each year from a list of nominees.

The honor has only been given to 66 people in the last 32 years.
