Teen bicyclist shot, killed in Northwest Jacksonville

Suspect still on loose

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is dead after being shot in the chest late Wednesday night on Carleon Road in Northwest Jacksonville.

Neighbors reported hearing a single gunshot around 10:35 p.m.

Police say the victim, 18-year-old Arzjahwun McGawely, was shot as he rode his bicycle. He was taken to UF Health, where he was pronounced dead.

Lionne Mills, of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, said neighbors saw someone leaving the scene.

"They also saw an unknown black male in the area fleeing the area immediately after the shooting," Mills said.

He said that person is being considered a suspect.
