A local restaurant owner hopes this video will help police arrest the criminal behind the wheel of his car.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating an auto theft in Miramar.

Joe Gjergji said his uncle's Honda Accord was stolen on Monday night while the two were working at Toscana Little Italy on Hendricks Ave.

"I was sitting at the bar eating and my uncle comes up and says did you move my car? And i said no, where are your keys? And he says in my pocket and I say well how am I going to move your car and then I walked out from the bar and I'm like are you serious and he's like yeah so I figured right away so I called the cops and said somebody stole your car," Gjergji said.

Surveillance video shows 3 men pull into the back parking lot of Toscana in a dark Chevrolet Malibu.

2 of them rummage around in other cars, while a third struggles to crank up the Honda.

After a couple minutes, he gets it started.

Even though no valuables were in the car, Gjergji said his uncle is devastated.

"He feels really bad to be honest with you because he had that car for a long time and he never had any problems with the car and he just says, how this can happen, but it did."

Channel 4 Crime Analyst Ken Jefferson said drivers need to do their best to put their cars in a safe place.

"You just have to do your due diligence by taking the keys, locking the doors and parking in an area that if it's not in a garage,
it's somewhat visible under some type of light," Jefferson said.

Police believe this case may be linked to another auto theft at a daycare nearby.
