DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A crash sent a Volusia County deputy and another driver to the hospital after the deputy ran a stop sign, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP said the crash happened before 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Indian Lake Road and Old DeLand Road, causing the intersection to be blocked.
According to troopers, Deputy Amy Edgecomb, 25, was traveling westbound on Old DeLand Road in her patrol cruiser as Debra Rubin, 45, traveled northbound on Indian Lake Road in her 1995 Chevy SUV.
Witnesses told FHP that Edgecomb ran the stop sign, causing the front of her cruiser to strike the right side of Rubin's SUV.
Edgecomb and Rubin were both taken to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach with minor injuries.
Edgecomb works in the courts and was on duty at the time of the crash, officials said.
FHP said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending against Edgecomb.
