LAKE CITY, Fla. – A woman turned herself in to the Columbia County Detention Center after police said she attempted to run over her husband and shot him in the leg.

Ruby Lucille Sheppard, 33, entered the parking lot of Annie Mattox Park off Denver Street on Monday evening, according to the Lake City Police Department. She attempted to run over 43-year-old Anthony Sheppard, police said.

After pinning him between her car and another, she exited the vehicle, a brief argument ensued and she retrieved a firearm from inside the car, according to LCPD.

She shot her husband in the leg and left the scene in her vehicle, which was later found at her home, police said.

Ruby Sheppard turned herself in to the Columbia County Detention Center about 9 p.m. Wednesday without incident.

She was booked on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.  She's being held without bond.
