Woman critical after shots fired into home

Deputies: Kharlota Hunter, 43, shot several times

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Detectives are investigating a shooting at a Cartier Circle home that happened Sunday morning.

Officials arrived to the Ribault neighborhood residence of 43-year-old Kharlota Hunter, who was transported to UF Health with several gunshot wounds. She remains in critical condition but is expected to survive.

Hunter was inside when shots were fired into the home, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.   A second person in the home at the time of the shooting was not injured. There were no children in the house at the time.

It is unknown whether the suspects fled on foot or in a vehicle.

No other details were immediately released. The shooting remains an active investigation.
