MELROSE Fla. - A 70-year-old woman died in an early morning house fire in the Melrose area Thursday, according to Putnam County fire officials.
Firefighters said they found the home on Grove Street fully engulfed in flames when they arrived just after 3 a.m. after being alerted by a newspaper carrier.
The woman's body was found in the rubble of her home, firefighters said. No one else was injured.
Investigators said the woman had lived in the home for about three months.
The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating what caused the fire.
