FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – A woman was seriously injured after losing control of her Vespa scooter in Nassau County late Sunday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Daniela Avera, 43, was traveling south on 8th Street at the intersection of Beech Street around 11:30 p.m. when she lost control. The Vespa overturned.

Avera was taken to UF Health in Jacksonville with serious injuries.
The FHP report did not state whether Avera was wearing a helmet or not.
