Jacksonville police say vehicle ran stop sign at intersection

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 67-year-old woman was killed and her husband remains hospitalized after an crash early Sunday morning at the Kernan Boulevard exit from J. Turner Butler Boulevard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Traffic homicide investigators say a vehicle southbound on Kernan at 2:10 a.m. failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and struck the driver-side door of a car driven by Leonora Sanalila and her husband.  The woman was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.  Her husband sustained life-threatening injuries.

Police did not provide any information about the other vehicle or its driver, saying the accident report is not available yet and there is an ongoing investigation.
