Woman shot inside Club at Charter Point Apartment

JSO: Woman taken to UF Health Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman is recovering after being shot multiple times inside her apartment in the Fort Carolina area early Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police were called to an apartment at the Club at Charter Point Apartment complex at 5500 North University Club Boulevard near University Boulevard, around 3:30 a.m. in reference to a shooting.

"We had an adult black female shot inside her apartment. She was shot at least two times and was transported to (UF Health Jacksonville) with non-life-threatening injuries," said JSO Sgt. A.B. Carnes.

So far, police have not released any suspect information.

"The detectives from the Violent Crimes Task Force unit responded and they'll be conducting the investigation. At this time, no suspects have been identified," Carnes said.

One witness was detained at the scene of the shooting early Tuesday, according to police.

Police have not said if the woman lived alone in the apartment.
