Deputies said their investigation began that evening when a 19-year-old female clerk at the Dollar General in the 1900 block of State Road A1A South reported that a man approached the cash register, displayed a knife in his waistband and demanded money.

An undisclosed amount of cash was placed into a store shopping bag and the man walked out of the front door, deputies said.

Surveillance videos and photographs of the suspect were posted on the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. Within days of the information being posted on social media, a confidential informant contacted detectives and confirmed the suspect's identity.

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshal's Service, Sonnefeldt was arrested without incident by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
