Man, 25, sentenced in child sex case

Jody Furr sentenced to 2 mandatory life terms, 2 life sentences

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 25-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday afternoon for his conviction on two counts of capital sexual battery and two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation of a minor, according to the State Attorney's Office.

Jody Furr was sentenced to two mandatory life terms followed by two life sentences, authorities said.

In August 2013, authorities learned that Furr had sexually abused two female child victims. The investigation revealed that Furr had sex with one girl and molested the other, authorities said.

The two victims were 5 years old at the time of the abuse. After each incident, Furr would give the victims a dollar and tell them not to tell anyone, according to the State Attorney's Office.

Furr was convicted of the charges last month, authorities said.
