Man, 35, convicted in attempted murder at gas station

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 35-year-old man was convicted Wednesday of attempted second-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Ricardo Depadra Galloway now faces a minimum of 30 years and up to life in prison as a prison release reoffender and a habitual felony offender.

In June 2014, Galloway approached a vehicle at the BP gas station on Rayford Street. The victim was working on his car when Galloway tried to take his wallet and phone from his pocket.

When the victim resisted, Galloway punched the victim in the face. The victim then locked himself inside the vehicle and Galloway pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the arm.

The victim has recovered from his injuries.

A sentencing date has not been set at this time.
