Williams was found dead in front of one of the rooms. Police said he was shot multiple times.

Police said the two friends got into a confrontation, and Macklin had a semiautmatic handgun.

Police said witnesses saw Macklin leaving the scene in a green Volkswagen, and they gave police a license plate number.

A short time later, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper tried to conduct a traffic stop on the car on Philips Highway because it had one headlight, police said. They said Macklin led a pursuit for about 2 1/2 miles before he stopped and surrendered.

Macklin is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Police said he was convicted of robbery in Missouri.
