Man, 44, tied to 8 robberies since July
A 44-year-old Jacksonville man arrested in a bank robbery Saturday has been connected to seven other robberies since July, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Robert Claiborne is charged with unarmed robbery and resisting an officer without violence in the Saturday robbery.
Police said he robbed the Suntrust Bank at 1702 N. Main St. about 9:20 a.m.
After his arrest, Claiborne admitted to robbing the Alive Credit Union on 6131 Atlantic Blvd. on Dec. 23, in addition to six other robberies since July, police said.
Claiborne was wearing a woman's wig with sunglasses and escaped in a gold Toyota Camry in most instances, police said. They said Claiborne provided details on the planning, execution and distribution of proceeds from the robberies, and even identified surveillance images of himself.
Police have not released how much money they said Claiborne stole during his robberies.
He was booked into the Duval County jail with bail set at $355,009.
