Man, 52, rescued from cruise ship

Man rescued from Carnival cruise ship 50 miles east of St. Augustine

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 52-year-old man Saturday from a cruise ship 50 miles east of St. Augustine after falling ill.

U.S. Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville Command Center received a report at 11:15 p.m. Friday that a passenger aboard a Carnival Pride cruise ship was experiencing symptoms of shock.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew arrived at the ship at 1:40 a.m.

The man was airlifted from the ship and flown to UF Health Jacksonville.

U.S. Coast Guard officials have not released the man’s name or his condition.
