He was sentenced to eight years in prison, followed by two years of probation and 120 hours of community service. Clayton's driving privilege was also permanently revoked.

In July, Clayton struck 3-year-old Teriyah Williams with his vehicle while she was playing outside of a Johnson Avenue home in the South Metro area. After hitting her, Clayton got out of his car, picked up the girl and placed her on the side of the road before leaving the crime scene.

The girl was taken to a hospital, but later died as a result of her injuries.

Clayton turned himself into police later that evening.
