JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 65-year-old man was convicted Wednesday on several child sex counts, the State Attorney's Office announced.
Michael James McPherson was found guilty of two counts of sexual battery and one count of lewd or lascivious molestation.

In April 2015, the victim's step-father contacted authorities about sexual abuse that occurred between the child and McPherson. The investigation revealed that on multiple occasions, McPherson performed sexually inappropriate acts on the victim when she was 7 years old.
McPherson now faces mandatory life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of Oct. 27.
