Man accused of snatching purse arrested in Keystone Heights

Deputies: Thomas Ragonese snatched purse from woman, 67

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. – A man accused of snatching a purse from a 67-year-old woman was arrested Friday afternoon after a brief foot chase, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Thomas Ragonese, 25, of Keystone Heights, was found thanks to a tip provided by a resident who saw media coverage and social media posts about the purse-snatching incident that happened in the Hitchcock's parking lot.

Ragonese and his vehicle matched the descriptions released earlier this week by the Sheriff's Office.

The 67-year-old victim is recovering from the incident. Deputies said detectives are working to recover her stolen items, which included her deceased husband's wedding band.

In addition to Ragonese's connection to the purse-snatching incident, he is also charged with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and trespassing, deputies said.
